🦞 Buttery Garlic Lobster Tails at Home (Restaurant-Quality Made Simple)
There’s something undeniably special about lobster tails. Whether it’s a romantic dinner, a holiday celebration, or just treating yourself because you deserve it — perfectly cooked lobster feels luxurious without being complicated.
Today I’m sharing my foolproof method for making tender, juicy lobster tails with a buttery garlic finish. No culinary degree required.
🛒 Ingredients
2–4 lobster tails (5–8 oz each)
4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 tsp paprika
Salt & black pepper to taste
Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Lemon wedges for serving
🔪 Step 1: Prep the Lobster Tails
If using frozen tails, thaw them overnight in the refrigerator.
Using kitchen shears, cut down the top center of the shell lengthwise. Gently pull the meat up and rest it on top of the shell while keeping it attached at the base. This is called “butterflying” and it helps the lobster cook evenly and look beautiful when served.
Pat dry with paper towel and season lightly with salt, pepper, and paprika.
🧄 Step 2: Make the Garlic Butter
In a small bowl, mix:
Melted butter
Minced garlic
Lemon juice
Brush generously over the lobster meat, making sure it seeps into the cuts.
🔥 Step 3: Broil to Perfection
Preheat your oven to broil (high setting).
Place lobster tails on a baking sheet and broil for 8–12 minutes, depending on size. The meat should turn opaque white and reach an internal temperature of 135–140°F (57–60°C).
💡 Tip: Lobster cooks fast. Overcooking makes it rubbery — keep an eye on it!
🌿 Finish & Serve
Brush with more garlic butter after cooking, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve with lemon wedges.
Pair with:
Creamy mashed potatoes
Garlic butter asparagus
A crisp white wine
Or even just warm crusty bread to soak up that butter
🧠 Pro Tips for Perfect Lobster
✔ Don’t overcook
✔ Always thaw completely before cooking
✔ Broiling gives the best texture, but grilling works beautifully too
✔ For extra richness, add a tiny splash of white wine to your butter
✨ Why Make Lobster at Home?
Ordering lobster at a restaurant can be expensive — but making it at home costs less and feels just as indulgent. Plus, you control the flavor.
Once you try this method, you’ll realize lobster tails aren’t intimidating at all — they’re actually one of the easiest “fancy” meals you can make.
